Berlioz Symphonie Fantastique
This event has passed.
Renowned British conductor Julia Jones takes the podium for three heady delights from a century of French music, from early Romantic to Impressionist.
Ravel took influence from his Spanish heritage in Rapsodie espagnole. In contrast, Berlioz’s Symphonie Fantastique was inspired by his unrequited love – the 26 year-old portrayed the opium-induced dreams of an artist experiencing the aftermath of a failed love affair.
Previous Leeds International Piano Competition winner Artur Pizarro performs Saint-Saëns’ most popular piano concerto which was composed in just three weeks!
