One of the earliest films from Mamoru Oshii (Ghost in the Shell), Angel’s Egg has an almost mythical status – a mysterious and mystical anime that audiences rarely get the opportunity to see.
Set in a vast abandoned city, it follows the journey of a girl guarding a giant egg and her soldier companion who tells biblical-like tales.
Screened as part of Japan 2021: Over 100 years of Japanese Cinema, a UK-wide film season supported by National Lottery and BFI Film Audience Network.
