Un Coeur En Hiver (A Heart in Winter)
Claude Sautet, France, 1992
This event has passed.
Stéphane (Daniel Auteuil) is an emotionally distant but professionally dedicated violin restorer whose cold heart is tested when his employer’s new girlfriend Camille (Emmanuelle Béart), a beautiful violinist, falls in love with him.
At once a classic love triangle and a constantly unfolding emotional journey, this is a film that will stay in your heart and your mind.
BAFTA-nominated for Best Foreign Film, join us for a “stylish romantic ménage that is as refined as the classical music world against which it is set” (Empire).
The film’s soundtrack features chamber music by French composer Maurice Ravel. Join us on 10 December for the unique chance to experience the music in an intimate setting as members of the Orchestra of Opera North perform Ravel’s piano trio and sonatas in the Howard Assembly Room.
“Everything is underplayed, made manifest through subtle glances, brief but pregnant silences, the rhythms of the editing, the moody qualities of the lighting, and the occasional bursts of Ravel played by Camille.”
