When all the potential May Queens are deemed morally unsuitable, the blameless Albert Herring from the greengrocers is chosen as May King. After one rum-laced lemonade at the May Day ceremony, Albert disappears, and even greater chaos ensues.
Britten’s quintessential English comedy comes to life in the intimate surroundings of the Howard Assembly Room, a perfect location for Giles Havergal’s delightfully immersive production, conducted by Garry Walker.
