This event has passed.
Join members of the Orchestra of Opera North for an intimate evening of music by French composer Maurice Ravel (1875-1937).
Technically complex and notoriously difficult to play, these stunning pieces for piano, violin and cello are also deeply moving and emotional. Written at the outbreak of World War I and reportedly inspired by a traditional Basque dance tune, the irregular time signatures and elusive melodies are utterly absorbing.
This intimate and immersive evening will feature a series of duets between the players, culminating in the trio for all three. Members of the Orchestra will perform ‘in the round’ giving the audience a unique chance to get close up the music.
The programme for this performance is taken from the 1992 film Un Coeur en Hiver, which will be screened in the Howard Assembly Room on 24 November.
