Brudenell Piano Sessions
This event has passed.
Brudenell Piano Sessions returns to the Howard Assembly Room for an early-summer edition of the ever popular piano-centred live music event. Join us for an enthralling and captivating late-afternoon of live music; an opportunity to enjoy the breadth of music composed for and performed on the piano; all in a relaxed, friendly and engaging atmosphere. It’s piano music; for everyone.
Piano-based singer-songwriter Hohnen Ford grew up immersed in London’s vibrant jazz scene, later studying at the Royal Academy of Music. Since graduating, she has been developing a unique and timeless approach to songwriting drawing on influences from the Great American songbook to artists such as Joni Mitchell. She has cultivated a devoted online audience through performances at her piano, live-streamed from her home to millions each week.
London-based multi-instrumentalist, composer and improviser Jessica Roch brings an eclecticism to proceedings, as she performs music which borrows from the worlds of ambient/electronic music and combines them with modern classical minimalism, jazz and experimental/folk touches. Nightports complete the lineup; a collective of Northern-based improvising musicians making sounds with keyboard instruments and electronics. For this performance, they are joined by Matthew Bourne as they premiere new music from a forthcoming album on Leaf Label.
Join host & curator Simeon Walker for a celebration of good music, good people and good times, gathered around the piano in the heart of Leeds.
Brudenell Piano Sessions is a Pay What You Can event. All are welcome. We recommend reserving free tickets via the booking link to avoid disappointment – monetary donations and contributions can be made on the day via card payment, in cash, or at any point before, during and after the event via the payment link. All takings are split equally between the artists performing and reinvesting in the event.
