Will you help us bring the joy of Falstaff to audiences across the north?
After a lifelong career composing some of opera’s greatest tragedies, Verdi turned to Shakespeare’s great comic rogue as inspiration for his final masterpiece. Widely considered one of the composer’s finest works, Falstaff brings together beautiful melodies, dramatic story-telling and laugh-out-loud comedy in a fast-paced gem of a piece that is one of the highest points of achievement in the operatic canon.
This autumn, Opera North opens its 2023-24 season with a brand new production of Falstaff. Building on the company’s previous successes presenting the works of Verdi to critical acclaim, Opera North Music Director, Garry Walker, conducts an outstanding ensemble cast, featuring an array of well-known artists alongside exciting new talent, with celebrated British bass-baritone Henry Waddington in the title role. Director Olivia Fuchs returns to serve up a rich feast of an opera, fully worthy of the abundant personality of its hero.
Be part of something extraordinary and help us to share the joy of Falstaff with audiences across the North of England.
