Family Film: Corpse Bride

Sunday 31 October 2021

This event has passed.

A family screening of Tim Burton’s magnificently macabre animated musical for Halloween.

There’s been a grave misunderstanding: timid young Victor has been whisked away to the underworld and married to a mysterious corpse bride, while his real bride Victoria waits in the land of the living…

Returning to the wonderfully gothic stop-motion world of The Nightmare Before Christmas, Tim Burton presents a hair-raising legend based on a 19th-century Russian folk tale.

With music by Burton regular and The Simpsons composer Danny Elfman, the song and dance numbers feature jolly skeletons, corpses, and ghosts. The gross-out gags and stunning visuals – a wise maggot periodically pops out the Corpse Bride’s eye to offer advice – will delight (slightly older) children. For grown-ups there’s the added pleasure of the likes of Christopher Lee, Albert Finney, Joanna Lumley and Richard E. Grant among the all-star voice cast, headed by Helena Bonham-Carter and Johnny Depp.

Join us in the foyer before the film for some Halloween-themed crafts and colouring!
