Byrd-Cage: The Shape of Sound

This event has passed.

In this unique concert as part of the Yorkshire Sculpture International, Opera North’s acclaimed Chorus of 36 voices illuminates the architectural space of Leeds Art Gallery’s Tiled Hall.

This specially curated programme of music explores the ability of sound to transform and affect space. Bringing together the early polyphony of Byrd and Gabrieli with the minimalism of Arvo Pärt and John Cage, this is an immersion in the sculptural power and enduring mystery of the human voice.
