Take your place in our new building and help us to keep making music for everyone.

In autumn 2021, Opera North reopened its estate following an £18m redevelopment campaign.

Together, the new Howard Opera Centre, the revitalised Howard Assembly Room with its beautiful public spaces and atrium on New Briggate, all boost our mission to create extraordinary experiences with and for everyone in our region and beyond.

A new beautiful glass atrium is the architectural focal point of our transformed home, providing a welcoming communal public space as well as a dedicated front of house for our venue, the Howard Assembly Room.

This space regularly plays host to artists, students, families and the wider public. It is a place for everyone and we’re giving you the opportunity to be part of the fabric of this building.

How it works

Wrapping around the central staircase, an installation symbolising a musical score celebrates the making of music in the heart of our building.

To become part of this new artwork, simply choose a note size and add your own personal message or dedication.

Your support will help us to create a space for everyone, where talent can be nurtured and developed, where artists can make thrilling music and where audiences can be inspired.
