“Deservedly becoming yet another young celebrity in the new folk scene’’ The Guardian
Founder member of Mercury nominated The Unthanks and winner of an astounding two BBC Radio 2 Folk Awards, Jackie Oates joins rising star guitarist and singer-songwriter Sam Carter for a special concert in Leeds.
In September 2009 Jackie Oates released her second solo album, Hyperboreans, which garnered rave reviews across the music press and sizzles with a new found confidence and maturity. Her uniquely beautiful vocal comes to the fore throughout the album adding a new freshness to traditional songs as well as a joyfully breezy cover of, “Birthday” by The Sugarcubes.
